The MarsDrive Mission Planning team are currently designing a new Mars mission temporarily titled MP4Z with team members Mike Bloxham, Terry Wilson, David Gooding and others refining this concept. More information will be added here later as the plan is undergoing extensive redesign. The MarsDrive Organization has worked since 2006 at new human mission designs starting with Mars for Less. Our current design program has discarded many of the Mars for Less elements and is a work in progress as of March 2012. Some of our design philosophy is focused on using current or near term existing launch vehicle systems, permanent human settlement, conceptual EDL systems and enhanced surface ISRU. Their proposed methods of funding the mission are also an alternative to the current plans with among other ideas a private consortium approach being investigated.
If you would like to help out and have skills in science, engineering, writing or artwork please contact us or join the forums here. Team members are directly involved in mission planning and execution for a variety of unmanned and eventually manned missions. If you enjoy challenging engineering problems we welcome your input to this most fulfilling role. Perhaps you might be the one to solve some of the most difficult problems facing such endeavours.
